Step 2: Core / Human Capital Factors

Enter the highest level for which you earned a credential OR had an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) if studied outside Canada (ECA must be from an approved agency, less than 5 years old).

You need language test results (less than two years old) for Express Entry. Enter the CLB levels achieved for each ability. Use an online converter if needed to find CLB from IELTS, CELPIP-G, PTE Core, TEF Canada, or TCF Canada scores.

In the last 10 years, how many years of skilled work experience in Canada do you have? (Must be paid, full-time or equivalent part-time, in NOC TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3).

These points combine your education, language skills, and work experience. Max 100 points total from this section.

In the last 10 years, how many total years of foreign skilled work experience do you have? (Paid, full-time or equivalent, in one occupation, NOC TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3).

This applies to skilled trades. It requires assessment and passing a certification exam in Canada.

Step 5: Additional Points

Max 600 points total from this section.

Note: As of March 25, 2025, points are no longer awarded for job offers, even if valid and supported by an LMIA (if required).

The sibling must be 18+, living in Canada, and related by blood, adoption, marriage, or common-law partnership (have a parent in common).

Bonus points if you have strong French skills (NCLC 7 or higher in all four abilities). Points depend on your English skills (CLB).

Note: To qualify for these points, you must have studied full-time (unless studied between Mar 2020-Aug 2022) at a Canadian institution, been physically present in Canada for study (unless studied between Mar 2020-Aug 2022), and ESL/FSL must not be more than half the program. Study under an award requiring return to home country doesn't count.
